“Kick in the Skirt” Revolution

Next year, we’ll be rolling out our “Kick-in-the-Skirt Revolution.” What is it?? Well, it’s a good ‘ole swift kick in the butt!

That’s what you’ve been telling us you need! We keep hearing over and over again that you generally know what you’re supposed to be doing, but you’re just not doing it. Or you’re just not doing it consistently. We keep saying that there’s no magic to success. Successful people have successful habits….plain and simple!

So what do we have to do? We have to replace our unproductive habits with new success habits. As a preamble to our 2011 Revolution, I’m creating a new success habit as of Oct. 1st. From Oct. 1st through Oct. 21st, I’ll set my alarm each day and wake up at 6am. Right now, I wake up at 7am during the week and around 7:30 or 8am on the weekends. During this additional hour, I will have my “power hour.” I’m going to enjoy my morning cup of coffee, as I read through a bible study. After that, I’m going to walk two miles each day, using my walking DVD.

So here’s the deal:

  • It’s because I want to. I’m making this change because I want to. I’ve always “wanted” to be an early riser, but I’ve always thought and said to others that I “need” nine hours of sleep a day.

When making a change, ask yourself six times “why” you want to make the change. Here are my answers off the top of my head: When I become an earlier riser, I:

  • will be able to fit in my exercise time
  • will grow in my faith
  • will enjoy my morning cup of coffee in the peace and quiet of the morning hours
  • will feel healthier
  • won’t be rushing in the morning
  • will be spending time attending to two of the most important areas of my life: my faith and my health
  • Trying it out with no strings attached. I’m looking at this as a trial period. I’m going to see how I like it. I’m going to see how it impacts my life. And after 21days, I’ll decide if it’s a habit I want to continue with or not. (Wow! That takes a lot of the pressure off! I don’t have to look at this as something I’m going to do for the rest of my life!)
  • Consistency is key. I’ll wake up at 6am every day for 21 days (even on the weekends!) If there’s even just one day when I choose not to do this, I’m going to have to start all over….with Day #1!
  • Accountability counts! Face it. I can make lots of excuses why I should stay in bed on a rainy Saturday morning. But I’m going to be accountable to you. I’ll keep you in the loop on my progress throughout the 21 days. Hopefully you’ll be cheering me on. Or even joining me…and doing the same!

**Bzzzzz. Got to go….that’s my alarm!

Cheering you on,
Clare ~ One of the F.A.B. Girls
