Plan out your year!
Happy New Year! Are you ready to kick off the New Year with a new success habit?
Successful people “think on paper” and they create plans. This month, we’re going to talk about how to do your yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily planning. So here goes…
Yearly Planning
At the start of each year, figure out where you want to be a year from now. Get a clear picture of your destination. (This is mile-marker #4 for my one-on-one clients.)
I’m going to ask that you stand in the future and to assume that your results have already been achieved.
Picture that it’s December 31, 2012 and you’re so excited that you’re glowing. You’ve had your most fabulous year ever and you’re toasting your accomplishments surrounded by friends and family.
What are things looking like? How do you feel?
Ultimately, your vision is what you’re setting your sites on. This is your personal blueprint for the year. And you’ll notice that your success vision will encompass your entire life…not just your business! You’re a whole person and if you’re out of whack in one of the other categories, it most likely impacts your business success. And I don’t encourage you to focus just on achieving business success, at the expense of the other aspects of your life.
Your year’s success vision will include eight categories:
- Business
- Professional Development (how are you going to grow into the business woman and expert that you want to become?)
- Family and Relationships
- Health and Wellness
- Personal Growth (how are you going to grow into the person you want to become, full of life and fun hobbies?)
- Faith and Inspiration
- Finances
- Community and Making a Difference
Include at least three descriptors in each of these eight categories and make sure to include an emotional component. You’ll want to be able to read your vision and be excited for your future. You should be able to really picture it all becoming a reality.
Next week, we’ll go into greater detail about how to do this. But get started now. Get your creative juices flowing. Here’s a sneak peak into what someone’s “Business” category may look like:
Example: Business
- I’m profiting $6,000 a month in my business and I have 45 new clients. I love working with my clients and we’re building such incredible relationships. They feel like family to me.
- I’m only working twenty five-hours a week in my business. I have set work hours so my family knows when to expect me to be working and when I’m off to enjoy time with them. I get such a sense of accomplishment knowing that I’m able to get so much done in such a short period of time.
- I’ve hired a part-time staff of two people and we work so well together. They allow me to do what I do best and they handle the things which weren’t bringing me joy.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions, as you start drafting your 2012′s success vision! And if you’d like to work one-on-one, so we can create a great plan for your business, I’d love to help! You can learn more here: www.kickintheskirt.com.
